Abstract
The study was carried out by the Infant & Young Child Nutrition (IYCN) Project, Bunda College of Agriculture, and the World Bank. The report presents the findings of the study, which aimed to increase understanding of feeding practices among rural families with children under 2 years of age, identify problems that impede adequate dietary intake, and explore changes in feeding practices that can improve dietary intake. The study employed consultative research methods, including interviews with mothers and key informants, and involved 60 mothers and 18 key informants in Phase 1 and 100 mothers in Phase 2. The report provides an overview of the study's objectives, methods, and findings, as well as recommendations for improving infant and young child feeding practices in Malawi.
