USAID, USAID ADVANCING NUTRITION · 2024

Abstract
The study assesses the challenges and lessons learned from piloting a methodology to inform large-scale food fortification programs in both countries. The methodology involves three steps: needs assessment, design/redesign, and optional modeling of diet cost and affordability. The study highlights the importance of stakeholder engagement and provides examples of challenges and lessons learned in applying the methodology, including considering industry feasibility, accurately identifying types of oil consumed, and interpreting adult female equivalent and nutrient density results.
