Abstract
The report provides an overview of the burden of anemia, the prevalence of primary causes of anemia, and coverage of interventions to address anemia in the four regions of Northern Ghana (Northern, Upper East, Upper West, and North East regions). The analysis highlights the high prevalence of anemia among children under five, pregnant women, and women of reproductive age in the Northern Belt. It also identifies the primary causes of anemia, including malaria, helminthic infections, and micronutrient deficiencies. The report assesses the coverage of interventions to prevent and control anemia, such as malaria prevention and control, helminth control, micronutrient supplementation and fortification, delayed cord clamping, family planning services, and counseling on relevant individual and household practices. The document concludes with recommendations for addressing anemia in Northern Ghana.
