This document is a learning brief titled Pathways for Improved Nutrition Outcomes for the Ultra-Poor by USAID Nawiri.
USAID, USAID Nawiri · 2022

Abstract
It discusses the findings and insights from a poverty graduation approach, specifically the Rural Entrepreneur Access Project (REAP), which aims to improve nutrition outcomes for ultra-poor households in Kenya. The brief highlights five key insights: (1) building the capacity of last-mile food supply chain actors can enable inclusive food systems, (2) poverty reduction efforts should include layered nutrition and women's empowerment approaches, (3) bridging social capital strengthens informal social protection and mainstreaming the voices of the ultra-poor, (4) a multi-pronged approach is required for demand creation and promotion of nutritious foods, and (5) adopting an adapted REAP for Nutrition model can catalyze community-level nutrition outcomes. The brief concludes by outlining priority areas for ongoing learning and adaptation.
