Profiling and Industry Analysis of Fortified and Fortifiable Foods in Uganda (July 2023)

It is a comprehensive analysis of the food fortification program in Uganda, supported by the Ministry of Health, USAID, and the National Working Group on Food Fortification. The report provides an overview of the food fortification program, its objectives, and the methodology used to gather data. It also presents findings on the distribution of fortified foods, installed and production capacities of food industries, and the market share of fortified foods. Additionally, the report assesses the potential of sugar and bouillon cubes as food vehicles for fortification and describes the premix brands and suppliers. The report concludes with a description of the current status of packaging and labeling of fortified foods.
