USAID Advancing Nutrition: Impact Evaluation in the Kyrgyz Republic (November 2023)

The article evaluates the impact of a USAID project aimed at improving maternal and child nutrition in the Kyrgyz Republic, specifically in the Batken and Jalal-Abad regions. The project's objective was to sustainably improve the nutritional status of women and children under 2 years old through community-based and facility-based counseling, and by strengthening the quality of nutrition services within the health system. The article presents the study design, methods, and results of the impact evaluation, which used a cluster-randomized, stepped-wedge design and telephone surveys to assess the project's effects on 20 indicators associated with 11 nutrition-related practices.
