Abstract
It presents the results of a study that analyzed the causes and seasonality of malnutrition in children and mothers in North Horr and Loiyangalani wards in Marsabit County and Cherab and Chari wards in Isiolo County, Kenya. The study used a participatory approach, involving women from 46 villages, to identify the factors contributing to malnutrition and to inform programming areas for phase II of the Nawiri project. The brief highlights the key findings, including the importance of addressing livelihoods and income-generating activities, particularly for women, and the need to consider gender issues and social norms that contribute to malnutrition. It also provides lessons learned and recommendations for interventions to address malnutrition.
