Abstract
As of 2013, the company covers approximately 98% of the city's population, serving around 80% of its 2.5 million residents with potable water. In terms of wastewater services, Miyahuna covers around 2.5 kilometers of the city's 7,579 kilometers of wastewater networks. In 2012, the Minister of Water and Irrigation decided to include the Madaba area as part of Miyahuna's service area, with the company expected to take over the Madaba Water Company by the end of 2013. Miyahuna employs around 500,000 people, with 1,500 customers in the Madaba area. The company operates and maintains two major water treatment plants, Zai and Zarqa, which meet international standards for potable water. Additionally, Miyahuna operates five smaller treatment plants and 8,600 kilometers of wastewater networks. The company is expected to receive additional water supplies from the Disi project, which will have a significant impact on the distribution of water in Amman. To accommodate this change, Miyahuna plans to improve both its water and wastewater networks. The company's strategic plan for 2013-2017 includes six main objectives: providing potable water to all residents of Amman, providing wastewater collection and treatment services, preparing to receive additional water supplies from the Disi project, managing customer relations, improving internal operations, and complying with laws, regulations, and policies. The plan outlines specific strategies and projects to achieve these objectives, including reducing administrative and physical water losses, implementing a comprehensive metering system, and improving customer service. The plan also includes initiatives to improve internal operations, such as implementing a geographic information system (GIS) and reducing energy consumption. Miyahuna's strategic plan is designed to be a living document that will be updated twice a year. The plan includes a detailed review of the company's strategic objectives and the projects that will be implemented to achieve them. The plan is intended to guide the company's efforts over the next five years and ensure that it remains a leading provider of water and wastewater services in Jordan. The plan includes six strategic objectives, each with specific strategies and projects. The objectives are: 1. Providing potable water to all residents of Amman, including reducing administrative and physical water losses, implementing a comprehensive metering system, and improving customer service. 2. Preparing to receive additional water supplies from the Disi project, including improving the company's water network, implementing a comprehensive water network mapping system, and improving customer service. 4. Managing customer relations, including improving customer service, reducing the number of customer complaints, and increasing customer satisfaction. 5. Improving internal operations, including implementing a geographic information system (GIS), reducing energy consumption, and improving the company's supply chain management. 6. Complying with laws, regulations, and policies, including ensuring that the company's water and wastewater services meet international standards, reviewing and updating the company's policies and procedures, and ensuring that the company's operations are safe and secure.
