Action memorandum for the Assistant Administrator for Africa [: traditional and scientific health care]

The study will be implemented by the African American Scholars Council and carried out by U.S. and African researchers in one rural and one urban setting in one African country (possibly Botswana, Lesotho, or Liberia). Research will focus on: the status of the modern and traditional health care systems; characteristics of traditional health care providers; a model for utilizing traditional healers; training of traditional healers; and the area"s social structure.
