Abstract
The report covers activities under USAID Cooperative Agreement No. AID-641-A-14-00001. The report is submitted by ACDI/VOCA, with collaboration from Association of Church Development Projects (ACDEP), PAB Consult, and TechnoServe. The project aims to increase agricultural productivity, improve market access, and strengthen capacity for advocacy and activity implementation in Ghana. The project focuses on three sub-purposes: increased agricultural productivity in targeted commodities, increased market access and trade of targeted commodities, and strengthened capacity for advocacy and activity implementation. The project has made significant progress in achieving its objectives. In terms of agricultural productivity, the project has established actor-supported demo sites, implemented standard crop production protocols, and provided training to farmers through the farmer mentor program. The project has also improved input/equipment access, farm business planning, and outgrower business management. In terms of market access, the project has developed market linkage, improved lead firm competitiveness, and supported trade associations. The project has also strengthened community-based market systems and improved regional/cross-border trade and transport. The project has also made progress in strengthening capacity for advocacy and activity implementation. The project has developed advocacy groups, strengthened advocacy capacity for national organizations, and supported district assemblies in planning for agricultural development. The project has also implemented a grants program, provided public relations and communication support, and conducted monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities. The project has also addressed challenges related to gender, environment, and public relations. The ADVANCE III project has achieved significant results, including increased agricultural productivity, improved market access, and strengthened capacity for advocacy and activity implementation. The project has also made progress in addressing gender, environment, and public relations challenges. The project has established partnerships with various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, and the Ghana Standards Authority. The project has also collaborated with other programs and organizations, including the Agriculture Private Public Dialogue Forum and the Business Sector Advocacy Challenge Fund. The ADVANCE III project has made significant contributions to the development of the agricultural sector in Ghana. The project has improved the livelihoods of farmers and rural communities, increased agricultural productivity, and strengthened market access. The project has also contributed to the development of the private sector and improved the business environment in Ghana. The project has also established a knowledge management and learning system, which has facilitated the sharing of knowledge and best practices among stakeholders. The project has also conducted research and analysis on various topics related to agricultural development, including climate smart agriculture and good agricultural practices. The ADVANCE III project has been implemented in various districts in Ghana, including the Northern Region, the Upper East Region, and the Upper West Region. The project has worked with various stakeholders, including farmers, outgrowers, and private sector companies. The project has also established a monitoring and evaluation system, which has facilitated the tracking of progress and the identification of challenges. The project has also conducted regular reviews and assessments to ensure that the project is on track to achieve its objectives.
