AID agreement no. 674-0206-G-00-7035-00 with Catholic Educational Aid Programme to continue its bursary program for legally disadvantaged South Africans

The project will fund the hiring and training of black South Africans, who will assume full responsibility for the program in a year or two; these staff will be trained in organizational management, office management, financial management, community organizing, and group communication. Secondly, workshops and consultations will be held with community organizations and with individuals and organizations involved in higher education in order to assess the bursary program"s accountability to affected communities and to address such issues as student selection procedures, the need for academic support programs before students enter universities, sociological problems that students encounter during their first year, and the expenses and number of years that bursaries should cover.
