Abstract
IDS will administer a questionnaire to 100 returned participants, with emphasis on women, persons who have moved from the public to the private sector, persons trained in third countries, and persons who received a Ph.D. degree. IDS will also to conduct in-depth interviews with 50-100 persons, mostly Kenyans from the public and private sectors, regarding the impact of overseas training on Kenyan development. Thirdly, case studies will identify if and how participant training influenced the future course of 4-6 organizations in which U.S.-supported trainees have been prominent. Finally, IDS will undertake sectoral studies of Kenyan economic development to provide a framework for examining the results of the above-mentioned research. A critical aspect of these studies will be the recording of key sectoral changes along a time axis measured in 5 or 10 year segments.
