AID cooperative agreement no. 623-0236-G-00-4052-00 with Semi Arid Lands Training and Livestock Improvement Centers of Kenya (SALTLICK) for a project that will develop the capacity of the pastoralist community of northern rangelands

SALTLICK will: (1) establish a veterinary supplies store and sell Ksh. 600,000 worth of veterinary supplies; (2) establish outreach centers to provide veterinary support services and promote training; (3) develop a livestock management and marketing curriculum and hold short courses and tours for pastoralists; and (4) develop a marketing infrastructure by establishing auctioneer stands at four locations. Specific targets are, inter alia, to train 350 people in livestock management and community leadership and reach 1,800 people via community-level awareness-raising sessions.
