Abstract
private sector to use its expertise and resources to strengthen the emerging democratic institutions and free market economies of Eastern Europe. CDC will identify priorities and specific projects for which the resources of U.S. corporations and nonprofit organizations are most applicable. CDC will also motivate corporate commitments to these projects, some 30 of which are planned over the life of the project. Finally, CDC will create a database of interested U.S. organizations (public, private, educational, corporate, etc.) and citizens whose expertise can be matched to the needs of Eastern Europe and will disseminate database information via the CDC bulletin and other means. Besides leveraging significant financial and in-kind resources for Eastern Europe, CDC by the end of the three-year cooperative agreement will be a nonprofit organization, fully funded by private resources.
