Grant is provided under the South Africa Community Outreach and Leadership Development project to People"s Express for a 12-month in-service training program for two young black journalism students at the Peninsula Technikon School of Journalism.

Abstract
The trainees will emerge at the end of the year skilled, informed, networked with media as well as academic and business sources, and having completed the in-service requirement for their journalism diploma. Peoples Express, a nonprofit, community-based organization, publishes two freesheet newspapers, funded entirely by advertisers and read by more than 300,000 persons in the Western Cape.
