Grant funds are appropriated to the Centro de Investigacion y Desarrollo de la Educacion (CIDE) to provide technical services for a Latin American (LA) regional conference on education research.
1979

Abstract
The conference will be coordinated by CIDE in Santiago, Chile in 1/80 and will be jointly funded by the Ford Foundation, World Bank, IDRC, and A.I.D. The Conference will examine: (1) where education research has gone in Latin America in the past 15 years and how useful it has been in policy-making; (2) current gaps in education research and an agenda for work in the 1980s; and (3) means of strengthening the research community so that research results in individual countries will receive wider dissemination. CIDE has overall financial and technical responsibility, including selection of 30 participants, preparation of working papers, travel of participants, and hiring of office staff and two full-time coordinators for 6 months. CIDE will prepare a final report in Spanish and forward copies to AID/W. A.I.D. funds will cover travel and per diem of six participants from A.I.D. countries not financed by other donors. A.I.D. will also fund two preliminary national-level seminars, publications and dissemination, and the salary of one coordinator for 6 months. A.I.D. will also collaborate on a mailing list for wider dissemination of the report.
