Sign inUSAID. BUR. FOR AFRICA. REGIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SERVICES OFC. (REDSO) EAST AFRICA
Grant is provided under the PVO Co-Financing II project to Christian Reformed World Relief Committee (CRWRC) to strengthen the capacity of three organizations -- divisions of the (Anglican) Church Province of Kenya (CPK) -- to operate community development programs in preventive health care, agriculture, water resources, and income generation.
1995

Abstract
The grant is a follow-on to a 1993 grant to CRWRC to strengthen the Nambale Diocese of the CPK. CRWRC/Kenya will work with the CPK Diocese of Nambale and with Ambassadors Development Agency (another Kenyan organization which was supported under a previous grant to CRWRC) to develop the capacities of three newly created CPK entities (which currently exist in name only): the CPK Provincial Office, the Central/Coastal Cluster, and the Western Cluster. CRWRC will provide consultations to these entities at the national, cluster, and diocesan levels to assist them in identifying technical resources for community development, in developing management skills and supervisory structures, and in networking with other NGOs in Kenya. Training will also be provided at various levels and will include: (1) community mobilization training, facilitated by Ambassadors Development Agency; (2) technical training, provided by participating dioceses and the Government of Kenya, to help particular families develop skills in, e.g., farming, running a microenterprise, or better child health practices; (3) management training in program planning, monitoring, and evaluation by CRWRC; and (4) extensive training at the board and senior management levels in policymaking, networking, and resource development. Finally, CRWRC will provide financial resources to implement community development programs, mostly in the form of grants. It is expected that the project will benefit 30,000 families in the areas served by 8 CPK dioceses.
