Project to support efforts by the American Institute for Free Labor Development (AIFLD) to develop strong, democratic independent trade unions in Grenada and increase their involvement in socioeconomic development projects and in the formulation of government policy on labor.

Abstract
AIFLD will provide TA and will support activities in leadership training, periodical publication, and programs in worker, consumer, and public employee education. Specific outputs will include the following: (1) an educational program on basic trade union subjects (collective bargaining, grievance handling, fundamental economic and political theory) for some 80% of Grenadian trade union leaders; (2) participation by 20% of leaders in either regional or George Meany Center labor leadership development programs; (3) publication of a newsletter presenting the democratic trade union perspective on public issues of concern to workers; (4) establishment of two or three socioeconomic development projects by the trade union movement; (5) active union involvement in self-help activities such as co-ops and voluntary activities such as adult literacy programs; and (6) a broad-based worker education program.
