AID grant to CARE International in Sudan to support regional finance and planning program

CARE will provide informal management/technical training to villagers and local leaders, and will help them to form men"s and women"s discussion groups, select SP"s and implementation alternatives, and establish monitoring and accounting systems. Priority will be given to SP"s in water resources development and community-based agriculture or forestry. Specific planned outputs include: 15 water resource SP"s; 5 community-managed nurseries; 6 women-specific SP"s; and 7 agricultural SP"s. A local currency fund will be established to provide credit for the small-scale private sector activities and, when necessary, for community investments. It is expected that CARE will be working in about 45 villages.
