Abstract
SCF will provide on-the-job management/technical training to villagers and local leaders, and will help them to form village development committees, select SP"s and implementation alternatives, and establish monitoring and accounting systems. Priority will be given to SP"s in water resources development and community-based agriculture or forestry. Specific planned outputs include: 65 water resource SP"s; 15 community-managed nurseries; 25 small group or individual enterprise SP"s; 30 women-specific SP"s; and a variety of agricultural SP"s, including extension services, home vegetable production, increased grain yields, and improved livestock practices. A local currency fund will be established to provide credit for the small enterprises SP"s and, when necessary, for community investments. Initially, SCF will be working in about villages with a combined population of 25,000 to 30,000, with potential for ultimately reaching 100,000 beneficiaries.
