AID project grant no. LAC-0047-G-IC-9008-00 to the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States for the Foreign Trade Information System (SICE)

to support the expansion of its Foreign Trade Information Service (SICE), especially SICE"s geographic coverage. Activities will focus on: (1) expanding SICE by adding new online data bases on U.S.-specific topics such as U.S. exports statistics, the status of bills before Congress, daily notices of the Federal Register, etc.; (2) expanding the SICE system to include information on Latin America and the Caribbean in such areas as import/export statistics and, over the long term, regulations, tariff schedules, bills of lading, etc.; and (3) expanding the SICE system to other geographical areas such as the European Community (EC) and the Far East. In regard to the latter, GS/O.A.S. has entered into preliminary discussions with representatives of the EC and the Government of Japan and plans a long term effort in this area.
