Abstract
The trip was led by Ummuro Adano, Senior Technical Advisor, Capacity Building, and aimed to collaborate with local AS-Two team to plan and conduct a Human Resource Management (HRM) workshop for nine CSO teams. The workshop was designed to improve understanding of HRM systems, develop job descriptions, and create a framework for developing HR manuals. The HRM workshop was held in Blantyre, Malawi, from July 2 to 4, and targeted two senior members of staff from each of the nine organizations. The workshop focused on improving key HRM practices, developing job descriptions, and creating a framework for developing HR manuals. The participants included representatives from Luntha TV, Centre for Alternatives for Victimized Women and other vulnerable Children (CAVWOC), Coalition of Women Living with HIV and AIDS (COWLHA), FOCUS, Namwera AIDS Coordinating Committee (NACC), Malawi Network of Religious Persons Living or Affecting by HIV/AIDS (MANERELA+), Malawi Girl Guides Association (MAGGA), Malawi Human Rights Youth Network (MHRYN), and Youth net and Counseling (YONECO). During the trip, Ummuro also met with Ndasowa Chitule, USAID Activity Manager for AIDSTAR-Two Malawi, to discuss a concept paper on incentives for CSOs. The mission expressed interest in the idea but was looking for additional funding to support it. Ummuro also discussed the possibility of making a presentation to share the approaches used by AIDSTAR-Two in working with CSOs. The trip report outlines several next steps, including ensuring that the CSO teams finalize and share the HRM manuals with their staff by August 4, 2012. The report also includes a list of key individuals contacted during the trip, including Ndasowa Chitule, Deputy Board Chair of CAVWOC, and several program officers and finance officers from CAVWOC. The report also mentions several relevant documents, including the Workshop Report- Human Resource Management Workshop – July 2012, which includes several attached handouts, and the Presentations from HRM workshop, which includes all presentations from the workshop. These documents are located in the eRoom and are available for other staff to access.
