Abstract
The report first recommends that BARC, in light of the significance to FSR of water management, conduct socioeconomic research on the latter subject; the objectives, research methodology, and time frame for a pilot effort of this kind in the community of Choto Kalampur are proposed. The report"s second section describes social science research being conducted under the Role of Women project. Research activities have included: selecting a research site and a research sample (68 households in the communities of Choto Kalampur and Jalsha); preparing instruments for a household economic survey and a survey of women"s contributions to the rural economy; gathering participants" observations on women"s daily economic activities; conducting a mapping and land use survey; collecting data on women"s life histories; and analyzing the research data. A tentative outline for the project"s final report and a summary of the author"s anticipated future consultancies conclude the report.
