Abstract
The Minister of State for Development Supervision and the Environment (MSDSE) will implement the project. With assistance from three long- and short-term advisors, the Center for Environmental Studies (CES) of the Bandung Institute of Technology in Indonesia (ITB) will be developed and strengthened. Five ITB faculty members will receive long-term M.S.-degree training at U.S. universities and other key ITB and MSDSE personnel will take part in international conferences and seminars in various environmental sciences. In addition, books and publications for an environmental clearing house will be provided at CES. Research studies will be conducted by CES in the management of natural resources and the environmental impact assessments of development projects. Through the results of these research studies, CES will assist GOI development planners of the GOI in devising environmentally-sound development strategies.
