The Capacity Building Component (CBC) of the BALADI CAP program has concluded all capacity-building trainings and on-the-job trainings (OJTs) for Cohort 2 CSOs.

Abstract
The program is periodically monitoring and reviewing compliance. For Cohorts 3 & 4 CSOs, the BALADI CAP team has finalized its interventions under the financial management and organizational development sub-components. The monitoring and evaluation (M&E) interventions will be concluded by the end of October 2018. All CBC teams are now working on finalizing Cohort 5 CSO interventions by March 2019. The CBC team has maintained a high level of results with CSO partners starting to report achievements linked to the increased capacity they realized under the BALADI CAP program. For example, the "Restart" CSO won its first 2-year U.S. government (USG) funding thanks to the improved institutional capacity it attained through CBC's interventions. Additionally, the Orphan Welfare Society (OWS) has achieved significant cost reductions thanks to its new procurement restructuring and the policies and procedures adopted under BALADI CAP. The Civic Engagement for Democratic Governance (CEDG) component of the program has made significant progress in promoting civic engagement and democratic governance in Lebanon. The component has supported the development of a civic engagement strategy for the Lebanese government, which aims to increase citizen participation in decision-making processes. The CEDG component has also provided technical assistance to CSOs to enhance their capacity to engage in advocacy and policy dialogue. The Civic Engagement Initiative (CEI) has been implemented in several municipalities across Lebanon, with a focus on promoting citizen participation in local governance. The CEI has established a network of community leaders and activists who are working to promote civic engagement and democratic governance at the local level. The initiative has also provided training and capacity-building programs for CSOs and local government officials to enhance their capacity to engage in civic engagement and democratic governance. The program has also made significant progress in promoting economic development and local governance in Lebanon. The Capacity Building Component has supported the development of a local economic development strategy for the North Lebanon Local Economic Development Agency (LEDA North), which aims to promote economic growth and job creation in the region. The program has also provided technical assistance to CSOs to enhance their capacity to engage in economic development and local governance. The program has also made significant progress in promoting environmental protection and sustainable development in Lebanon. The Civic Engagement for Democratic Governance component has supported the development of a civic engagement strategy for the Lebanese government to promote environmental protection and sustainable development. The program has also provided technical assistance to CSOs to enhance their capacity to engage in environmental protection and sustainable development. The program has also made significant progress in promoting social development and human rights in Lebanon. The Civic Engagement for Democratic Governance component has supported the development of a civic engagement strategy for the Lebanese government to promote social development and human rights. The program has also provided technical assistance to CSOs to enhance their capacity to engage in social development and human rights.
