Abstract
The first step in establishing a coffee plantation is to select a suitable site. The ideal location should have a slope of no more than 30%, good air circulation, and an altitude of at least 900 meters above sea level. The soil should be well-drained and have a good amount of organic matter, such as compost or manure. The importance of soil quality cannot be overstated. A good soil should have a loose and deep structure, allowing the coffee plant's roots to grow at least 1.5 meters deep. The soil should also have good moisture and aeration, and should not be too rocky. It is also essential to preserve the natural vegetation and not burn it, as this can lead to soil erosion and the loss of beneficial microorganisms. The climate is also a critical factor in coffee production. The ideal climate for coffee cultivation has a regular temperature between 17°C and 23°C, with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. The soil should be consistently moist, but not waterlogged. By selecting a suitable site and following these guidelines, coffee farmers can establish a productive and sustainable coffee plantation.
