This bibliography considers definitions of nutritional standards, food consumption patterns in various parts of tropical Africa, and the process of change in food consumption patterns.

Abstract
Much of the literature concerned with development emphasizes assurance of adequate food supplies to satisfy basic nutritional needs. There are about 160 citations in French and in English. This bibliography is useful in assessing the state of current literature and in facilitating further consideration of the dynamics of change in food consumption patterns in tropical Africa. Examples of ongoing research in this area include: income distribution and technical change in Sierra Leone and Nigeria; rural and urban small-scale industry in West Africa; dynamics of female participation in the economic development process in West Africa, and the economics of small farmer production and marketing systems in the Sahelian Zone of West Africa.
