Project to test short-term interventions the Government of Bangladesh can use in developing a national legal infrastructure to ensure civil and human rights, especially for the rural poor.

Abstract

The project, to be implemented by the Asia Foundation, will fund visits to Bangladesh by constitutional law experts and the development and printing of a national law journal and of manuals for Thana (County) Magistrates and Chairmen. Amendment of 8/31/86 changes the subproject number from 498025106 to 398025106 (reflecting the reorganization of the Asia and Near East Bureaus) and increases funding to support for 2 years the continued activities of the Bangladesh Society for the Enforcement of Human Rights (BSEHR).
