Abstract
Working with the Government of the Republic of Zambia and other partners, the project seeks to improve coordination, planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation among organizations providing services to these children. Community Rising conducts mapping of OVC services and consolidates them in the form of a directory for each district. The directory was created through a collaborative effort involving Catholic Medical Mission Board, the Ministry of Community Development and Social Welfare, the Ministry of Gender and Child Development, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Education, and district stakeholders. Information was collected through interviews with contact persons at the offices of listed organizations, using a questionnaire-based data collection tool. The tool was developed through wide consultations and pretested with selected Lusaka-based organizations. The directory includes information on organizations operating in Chongwe district, such as date of registration, geographical operating area, address, contact person, vision, mission, objectives, major thematic areas, types of services provided, and affiliated networks. This information is expected to facilitate referrals, collaboration, and networking among providers and stakeholders, ultimately ensuring that orphans and vulnerable children receive holistic services without duplication. The directory lists 32 organizations operating in Chongwe district, including schools, community development agencies, medical offices, and women's associations. These organizations provide a range of services, including education, healthcare, social welfare, and economic empowerment. The directory also includes information on government ministries and departments, such as the Ministry of Community Development and Social Welfare and the Ministry of Education. The directory is a valuable resource for organizations and stakeholders working with orphans and vulnerable children in Chongwe district. It provides a comprehensive list of service providers and their contact information, facilitating collaboration and referrals. The directory is also a useful tool for monitoring and evaluation, enabling organizations to track progress and identify areas for improvement. The directory was produced by Community Rising in collaboration with partners, including Catholic Medical Mission Board and the Ministry of Community Development and Social Welfare. The project aims to strengthen social welfare systems and improve policies for orphans and vulnerable children in Zambia's Chongwe District. The directory is a key component of this effort, providing a valuable resource for organizations and stakeholders working with orphans and vulnerable children in the district. The directory includes a list of abbreviations used in the document, which provides a glossary of terms and acronyms used in the field of orphans and vulnerable children. The abbreviations include terms such as ACC (Area Coordinating Committee), AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome), AZIEA (Alliance Zambia Informal Economy Association), and CMMB (Catholic Medical Mission Board).
