Abstract
The project is in its final stage with the Terminal Disbursement Date (TDD) set at 5/24/79. To date 144 m/m of technical assistance has been provided and 108 participants completed their training. All returned to Bangladesh and are working in government jobs. By TDD an additional 22 m/m of technical assistance and 264 m/m of training will be provided. US advisors assisted in initiating an Agr Research project, setting up a technology cell in the Agricultural Ministry, improving the IRDP (Integrated Rural Development Project) financial systems, conducting a plant protection survey, and establishing a new maintenance system in fertilizer plants. In addition, USAID funded consultants in organizational development for the jute industry; a PASA TDY to develop the Vertebrate Pest Control component of the Agr Research Project; and the writing of a manual for designing and constructing pucca structures for food for work projects. The Mission found it very useful to have a flexible project enabling a quick response to unforeseen BDG requests for technical assistance and training.
