Abstract
It discusses the rather formidable econometric problems encountered in such analysis and how they may be dealt with. It also presents the results of the analysis itself from which three major conclusions are drawn. The significance of these results is noted for various policy issues such as the balance-of-payments, export promotion, protection, and the two-gap model.
