1987
Abstract
political support, and to facilitate GOE structural reforms. Program funds will be used to carry out economic reform or development activities that would not otherwise have occurred. Specifically, the funds may be used to finance imports from A.I.D. Geographic Code 899 countries, to service debts to the United States and other Code 899 countries, and to satisfy other purposes as agreed between A.I.D. and the GOE. The program does not impose any requirements on the GOE as to local currency generation/use, nor does it mandate any specific structural reforms. Ongoing policy dialogue between USAID/E and the GOE will address Egypt"s balance of payments, budget deficit, and debt management problems. The GOE is gradually adopting new economic policies.
