Abstract
The organization is composed of over 9,000 small-scale coffee and cacao farmers from 11 cooperatives. The program aims to strengthen the management capabilities of cooperative leaders, promoting sustainable development and gender equity. The Escuela de Líderes Cooperativistas Agrarios is a national program designed for all organizations operating under the cooperative model. The program focuses on developing the skills and competencies of cooperative leaders, enabling them to effectively manage their organizations and contribute to the growth of the cooperative movement in Peru. Cooperative leaders play a crucial role in the development of their organizations, representing the cooperative, organizing, planning, and controlling the technical and administrative aspects of the institution. They are responsible for ensuring the implementation of agreements and statutes, as well as guiding the organization towards success in both internal and external contexts. The Central Café y Cacao del Perú considers the development of this initiative essential, acknowledging the support provided by SOS FAIM, DGCD of Belgium, and USAID/PERÚ's Alternative Development Program. The organization also expresses gratitude to its base cooperatives, as well as the contributions of cooperative leaders, administrators, technicians, and students who have participated in the program. The Escuela de Líderes Cooperativistas Agrarios has undergone significant development, evolving from an initial program focused on coffee and cacao cooperatives to a broader national program. This expansion has enabled the program to reach a wider audience and address the diverse needs of cooperative leaders across Peru. The program's development is a testament to the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders, including the Central Café y Cacao del Perú, SOS FAIM, DGCD of Belgium, and USAID/PERÚ's Alternative Development Program. The Escuela de Líderes Cooperativistas Agrarios has the potential to positively impact the cooperative movement in Peru, promoting sustainable development and gender equity among small-scale farmers. The program's focus on developing the skills and competencies of cooperative leaders is critical to the success of the cooperative movement in Peru. By strengthening the management capabilities of these leaders, the program aims to promote the growth and development of cooperatives, ultimately contributing to the country's economic and social development. The Escuela de Líderes Cooperativistas Agrarios has the potential to make a significant impact on the lives of small-scale farmers in Peru, enabling them to improve their livelihoods and contribute to the country's economic growth. The program's focus on sustainable development and gender equity is particularly relevant, given the importance of these issues in the context of small-scale agriculture in Peru.
