Abstract
The program aims to support the preparation of REDD+ in Mexico through the establishment and strengthening of political, institutional, technical, and financial capacity, as well as other basic aspects necessary to ensure the successful implementation of REDD+ in Mexico. The program is implemented by the Alianza México REDD+ integrated by The Nature Conservancy (TNC), the Woods Hole Research Center (WHRC), and Rainforest Alliance, Espacios Naturales y Desarrollo Sustentable (ENDESU). The program's strategy includes the development of a communication radiofónica to raise awareness about the importance of conserving and managing forests, as well as the impacts of climate change on the environment and human health. The program consists of four radio programs, each with a specific focus: Programa 1, "INTRODUCCIÓN AL CAMBIO CLIMÁTICO," discusses the causes and consequences of climate change, while Programa 2, "LOS ACUERDOS Y CONVENIOS MUNDIALES SOBRE EL CLIMA," explores the international agreements and conventions related to climate change. Programa 3, "LA ESTRATEGIA NACIONAL REDD Y LA ALIANZA MÉXICO REDD+," examines the national strategy for REDD+ and the role of the Alianza México REDD+ in implementing it. Programa 4, "LOS BOSQUES BIEN MANEJADOS AYUDAN A REDUCIR EL CAMBIO CLIMÁTICO," highlights the importance of sustainable forest management in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The program also includes interviews with experts and community members, as well as audio recordings of international leaders and experts, such as Christiana Figueres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and Mario Molina, a Nobel laureate in chemistry. The program aims to raise awareness about the importance of climate change mitigation and adaptation, as well as the role of sustainable forest management in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
