Abstract
assistance played a significant role. The expertise, technology, and resources invested by the United States, along with effective strategies targeted at specific problems, facilitated the productive potential of these countries, enabling them to increase exports, develop new trade partners, adopt market-oriented policies, and benefit from new opportunities in the world economy. Some of the areas address by USAID in these countries include: economic policy reform, institution building, infrastructure, professional training, and crisis and security issues. The country reviews in this document provide background information on USAID"s development strategy, funding levels, and projects in each country, but do not attempt an indepth analysis either of the overall impact of U.S. assistance or of the development progress and sustainability of the countries involved. Each country review includes a bibliography.
