Quickly translating a climate vulnerability assessment for a country or region into adaptation measures can often be a struggle and take a long time.

Abstract
This paper"s authors explain a Fast Track Implementation (FTI) approach for streamlining assessments and developing measures that can be implemented quickly. The paper lays out criteria for carrying out an FTI approach. These includes: (1) conducting a rapid, stakeholder-driven screening assessment Focusing on resources, sub-populations and assets that are highly vulnerable; (2) browsing a list of fast-track adaptation options; and (3) applying design criteria to select other adaptation options The FTI approach is designed to be used by development and adaptation practitioners, resource managers and decision-makers who can address vulnerabilities at the local and regional levels. In some cases, the approach may also be used at the national level. It builds on the Climate Resilient Development Framework, which systematically includes climate considerations in all types of decision-making. The paper notes it is best used when a developing country is highly vulnerable to climate change, adaptation options to reduce impacts are straightforward and inexpensive and the human and financial resources are available to launch implementation.
