Final report of the National Academy of Sciences/National Research Council"s project on economies in transition : cooperative agreements CCN-0004-A-00-5023-00 and CCN-A-00-95-00023-00 -- December 1994-31 May 1997

The NRC held five workshops on socioeconomic transformation, two of which were specifically designed to meet USAID"s needs: "Economic Transformation: Households and Health (9/95), and "Economic Transformation; Institutional Change and Social Sector Reform" (9/96). The best papers presented at the workshops will be published in a volume entitled "Transforming Post-Communist Political Economies," which will also include a series of essays by NRC Task Force members and a research agenda for further work in the field (see PN-ACC-147/148). A major effort to disseminate the volume is expected to be funded by the CIA.
