Abstract
The project, to be implemented by the American Institute for Free Labor Development (AIFLD), comprises education and TA programs for (1) labor unions and (2) campesinos. The education program for labor unions will consist of an in-country cycle of basic, intermediate, and advanced courses in labor unions organization and practices for an estimated total of 400-475 individuals. In addition, some 140 graduates of the in-country program will receive scholarships for specialized participant training in the United States and third countries. AIFLD will also provide TA to help strengthen labor unions" internal organization, ability to serve their members, and to undertake social development and other union projects. The campesino program, to be channeled through Union Comunal Salvadorena (UCS), a campesino community development organization, will include community leadership training for 150 campesinos, executive leadership training for 30-90 campesinos, and specialized U.S. or third-country training for 17 campesinos. AIFLD will also provide UCS with TA in establishing community development projects and creating new UCS cooperatives.
