Abstract
These lands are part of the communities of San Isidro del Maino and Levanto in the province of Chachapoyas in Amazonas. The characteristics geomorfológicas and the soil have generated in Tilacancha a system hídrico of great importance for both communities and the city of Chachapoyas. The communities of San Isidro del Maino and Levanto, aware of the existence of multiple threats to the conservation of the area, joined efforts with the Municipalidad Provincial de Chachapoyas and the Grupo Técnico Tilacancha to protect the cuenca alta, especially from activities that alter the water regimes, such as deforestation of the last forests in the cuenca and the burning of wetlands. The conservation strategy carried out from 2008 was the consolidation of a broad participatory process that had as a valuable result the recognition of the Área de Conservación Privada Comunal de Tilacancha, property of the communities of Levanto and San Isidro del Maino, through Resolución Ministerial N° 118-2010-MINAM. The objective of the ACP Tilacancha is to conserve the wetlands, the bofedales, and the relict forests of the upper parts of Tilacancha, as sources of water that supply the nearby localities, including the city of Chachapoyas. A significant milestone in the recognition of the ACP Tilacancha was the process of elaboration of its Master Plan, convened by the legal representatives of both communities that accede to the Resolución Presidencial N° 144-2010-SERNANP. The Master Plan was approved by Resolución Presidencial N° 152-2012-SERNANP. A theme and activity identified in the Master Plan was the ordering of livestock in the two communities. As is known, livestock is one of the most traditional activities for these two communities. In this context, the Asociación Peruana para la Conservación de la Naturaleza (APECO) in coordination with both community boards, developed in June 2012 the planning for the development of a Livestock Ordering Plan to improve production and limit the environmental impacts it produces. The ACP Tilacancha is a private communal conservation area located in the Amazonas region of Peru, covering an area of approximately 12,000 hectares. The area is characterized by wetlands, bofedales, and relict forests, which are essential for the water supply of the nearby localities, including the city of Chachapoyas. The communities of San Isidro del Maino and Levanto, owners of the ACP Tilacancha, have been working together with the Municipalidad Provincial de Chachapoyas and the Grupo Técnico Tilacancha to protect the area from activities that alter the water regimes, such as deforestation and burning of wetlands. The Master Plan was approved by Resolución Presidencial N° 152-2012-SERNANP. A theme and activity identified in
