Matching grant to the Meals for Millions Freedom from Hunger Foundation (MFM) to expand and replicate successful applied nutrition programs (ANP"s) in Antigua, Ecuador, Honduras, Sierra Leone, Kenya, and Thailand; to continue to establish an ANP in Nepal; and to implement ANP"s in six additional developing countries.

Abstract
ANP"s focus on integrated approaches to improving maternal/child nutrition. A.I.D. funds will be used to help: (1) conduct baseline surveys and needs assessments in new ANP areas; (2) provide training in program management to local staff and food and nutrition training to community workers and beneficiaries; (3) monitor the nutritional status of children aged 0-5; (4) promote small locally planned and managed development projects: (5) promote coordination among government and NGO activities and integrate resources and services (e.g., health care, family planning, agriculture, and sanitation) provided by other organizations into ANP"s; (6) strengthen and diversify technical capabilities to improve program management and nutritional impact; (7) refine project planning and management systems; (8) increase knowledge, experience, and technical expertise throughout MFM and within ANP countries; and (10) institutionalize ANP"s in Antigua, Ecuador, Honduras, and Thailand.
