Abstract
The program aimed to provide vocational training and upgrading for students in the field of health care. The grant was funded by the CSP-TO4-21-001 C program and was active from March 30, 2022, to July 8, 2022. The program involved various activities, including coursework and internships. The coursework was designed to be engaging and interactive, incorporating methods such as teamwork assignments, video presentations, real-life stories, role-playing, and role-playing exercises. Students were evaluated at the end of each course, and the internship was arranged at the Dar es Salam hospital for medico-social care. A total of 20 students received financial assistance, and all 20 students successfully completed their coursework and were prepared to start their two-month internships. The students demonstrated a high level of commitment to their studies, with minimal absences and completion of all required assignments. The program's timeline was adjusted to accommodate the varying lengths of time required for each course. For example, the chapter on vital signs required 12 hours of instruction, while the chapter on occupational health and safety required only 3 hours. Despite the program's achievements, the Lebanese Red Cross Sailing Nursing School faced challenges related to resource availability. The school lacked essential equipment, including a hemoglobin test machine, bondage, personal protective equipment, an oximeter, an oxygen machine, and vital signs equipment. These limitations hindered the program's objectives and required the school to adapt its approach. The school has planned several activities for the next reporting period, including the commencement of internships at the Dar es Salam hospital on July 11. The school will continue to monitor students' progress and performance during their training and work on developing their soft skills.
