USAID. MISSION TO COSTA RICA
Project to provide pharmaceuticals and medical supplies in order to redress financial shortfalls faced by the Costa Rican National Health Care System, namely, the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS).
1983
Abstract
CCSS will implement the project. A.I.D. will provide a $10 million loan for the procurement of pharmaceuticals and other essential medical supplies by the CCSS and MOH, along with a grant to cover the services of a full-time procurement specialist and a short-term pharmaceutical supply specialist. These funds will enable the Government of Costa Rica to pay its outstanding debt to CCSS and its 1984/85 employer"s quota to CCSS. A complementary project, Policy, Planning, and Administrative Improvement, will help CCSS control its expenditures and investments by strengthening its procurement procedures, materials management, and accounting and financial management functions.
