Abstract

Also treated is the introduction of virology into ICARDA"s genetic research and an update on the training efforts vital to ICARDA"s mission. Successes in distributing stress-tolerant lines, in on-farm trials directly aimed at solving farmers" problems, and in supporting new technologies by national programs indicate the possibility of significantly higher and more stable food crop yields for the 27 countries in the arid region of West Asia and North Africa.
