Abstract
The project aims to empower young people to become effective leaders in their communities and to contribute to the country's democratic development. The initiative began in August 2017 and is scheduled to conclude in August 2022. The project's implementation plan for fiscal year 2019 outlines several key objectives and strategies. The first objective, "Activate Potential Leaders," focuses on identifying and developing the leadership potential of young people in Guatemala. This will be achieved through a combination of foundational training, scholarship programs, and partnerships with local organizations. The second objective, "Strengthen & Mobilize Developing Leaders," aims to build on the foundation established in the first year and to scale up activities in key areas. This will involve piloting the foundational training methodology with World Vision and Paz Joven, as well as expanding the scholarship program to reach additional youth. The third objective, "Support Leaders in Action," focuses on providing young leaders with the skills and knowledge they need to effectively lead organizations or change movements. This will be achieved through the development of an active methodology and curriculum for a course on leadership techniques, as well as the provision of support for the development of a network of young leaders. The project's implementation plan also includes a number of cross-cutting activities, including the empowerment of marginalized populations, such as indigenous groups and women. The project will also focus on building alliances with other stakeholders, including local organizations and government agencies, to support the development of young leaders. The project's timeline for fiscal year 2019 includes several key milestones, including the completion of a competitive grant process to identify new partners, the development of an active methodology and curriculum for a course on leadership techniques, and the expansion of the project's geographic reach to additional areas of the country. The project's monitoring, evaluation, and learning system (MELSYS) will be used to track progress and identify areas for improvement. The system will include a range of indicators, including the number of young leaders developed, the number of communities reached, and the level of participation in project activities. Overall, the Proyecto Acción Transformadora initiative aims to empower young people in Guatemala to become effective leaders and to contribute to the country's democratic development. The project's implementation plan for fiscal year 2019 outlines a range of key objectives and strategies, including the development of young leaders, the scaling up of activities, and the expansion of the project's geographic reach.
