Abstract
Evaluation covers the period 8/80-8/81 and is based on a detailed examination of project records and interviews with project staff and beneficiaries. Substantial progress has been made in achieving the project"s purpose. INCAE is now operating at almost full capacity, with l68 Masters in Business Administration (MBA) students enrolled and a full schedule of 68 advanced management programs, seminars, and special activities in place. INCAE"s l98l deficit was $2l0,000, well below the projected $440,000, and the current operating budget deficit is manageable and smaller than the projected end-of-year goal. The student loan fund has been increased and efforts to collect old loans have been instituted with good initial results. Fund-raising activities have been effective. Thus, barring adverse political and economic factors beyond INCAE"s control, the institute will achieve financial viability in a few years and thus be able to continue playing a major role in private sector development in the region.
