Abstract
The pattern of unemployment rates in the Philippines has been relatively unchanged since data has been collected. In any case, it can be argued that employment is a means towards reducing poverty so that the latter objective reflects both income redistribution and employment creation. More specifically, the objective of this dissertation is to construct an intersectoral consistency model of the Philippines, and to test in a consistent manner, various policies proposed to improve both income distribution and growth performances of the Philippine economy. The consistent framework will follow closely previous work done by Thorbecke and Sengupta, as related to the Colombian economy.
