TU will undertake activities which include: (1) collecting, cataloging, and preserving naked barley in a gene bank; (2) identifying genotypes with short grain-filling periods to fit into multiple cropping systems; (3) testing the yielding ability and stability and disease resistance of the germplasm; and (4) developing a high-yielding naked barley variety that will help meet food demand in food deficit areas of Nepal.
