Abstract
USAID PROVIDES TECHNICAL ADVISORS TO WORK WITH RELATIVELY YOUNG NEPALI STAFF AT IAAS PROFESSOR AND GRADUATE STUDENT EXCHANGES. IN ADDITION, PARTICIPANTS ARE TRAINED TO SERVE AS IAAS FACULTY. BOOKS, TEACHING MATERIALS AND LAB AND OFFICE EQUIPMENT ALSO PROVIDED. Project Amendment No. 2 of 6/8/83 revises, in accordance with changing Government of Nepal policy, the project purpose regarding the recipients of training at IAAS. The revised purpose is to develop IAAS"s capability to train B.Sc candidates. Under the project revision, IAAS will train 150 B.Sc graduates and 1,000 Junior Technicians (JT"s) and Junior Technician Assistants (JTA"s), for respective life-of-project totals of 387 and 5,154. Thereafter the IAAS will annually produce 75 B.Sc. and 500 JT/JTA graduates. During the project"s final year, available project funds will be used to fund priority construction of faculty housing and women"s dormitories.
