Abstract
The main aim was to collectively identify the barriers of communication felt by the transaction managers and find solutions on how to improve the flow of communications and thereby also improve the efficiency of transactions and activities within the commission. The training focused on the importance of internal communication and its benefits, including increased efficiency, empowerment, and ownership among employees. Participants were presented with different scenarios of communication barriers, which led to a discussion about how or if they could relate to these situations. Many participants seemed to be able to relate to these scenarios, highlighting the lack of clarity on job descriptions, weak organizational structure, and disengagement between transaction managers and PC employees as key barriers to effective communication. The participants also highlighted the need for conducting workshops to improve personal communication skills and recommended hiring more management staff who would be the focal point for employees and consultants. This would help structure both the work and communication in the Privatisation Commission. The training achieved its objective of increasing the understanding of the participants about the topic, with most participants rating the training as excellent or good. The topics that participants found most interesting or useful included interactive discussions, focus on how to facilitate effective communication, and practical illustrations used in the workshop. Some participants suggested that the training could have been made more effective by having more interactive rounds, regular discussion on the subject, and practical demonstration. They also recommended involving PC staff to work out actual issues in PC regarding effective communication and learning more about grapevine form of communication and interpersonal communication. The training was conducted on November 25, 2015, at the Privatisation Commission Conference Room, with Hina Akhtar as the facilitator. The training included an introduction to the workshop, presentation by the facilitator, and a question-answer session. The PowerPoint presentation used in the workshop is attached, and the sign-in sheet provides a list of the participants who attended the training. The Privatisation Commission of Pakistan is a key driver of privatization activities, and effective internal communication is essential for the success of these activities. The training aimed to sensitize transaction managers and consultants on the importance of internal communication and its benefits, and to identify solutions to improve the flow of communications and increase efficiency within the commission.
