Abstract
Coconut oil constitutes approximately 14 percent of the world trade in fats and oils. It serves many purposes both for human consumption and as an industrial oil. The traditional uses are in the manufacture of soap, margarine, shortening, and in baked goods and confectioneries. It also has important uses in chemical manufacture. Based on a simultaneous equation model, this paper analyzes the demand for copra, coconut oil and copra meal produced and exported by the Philippines.
